Chamber Music Tulsa believes frequent exposure to live musical experiences has a significant impact on a child’s life skills. To ensure we impact as many young children as possible, Chamber Music Tulsa sponsors annual tours to eleven different schools by The Council Oak Trio, a local woodwind ensemble.

Students hear live chamber music in a fun, hands-on, interactive learning environment.  Student volunteers help with the program, “The Music Olympics,” which includes a tour through the history of classical music and famous composers. Students are given clues about which country or city they will be visiting. As the students guess the clues, the Trio plays music from that region, tells stories about the composer and time period, and lets the students sing along or actually play instruments with the group.

The Council Oak Trio was founded in 1994 and includes up to twelve different woodwind instruments in its performances. The group is particularly known for its warm onstage presence and audience rapport. It presents about 60 concerts per year, ranging from formal chamber concerts to workshops, coaching and children’s programming.

Students and teachers are grateful for Chamber Music Tulsa and The Council Oak Trio partnership, which brings such an exciting musical experience at no cost to the school.
