World Premiere: There Arises Light In the Darkness/Piano Trio

Chamber Music Tulsa commissioned Barron Ryan to write a piano trio commemorating the centennial of the Tulsa Race Massacre in 2021. The trio, My Soul is Full of Troubles, was given its world premiere on June 3, 2021 at Greenwood Cultural Center with pianist Barron Ryan, violinist Christopher Whitley, and cellist Titilayo Ayangade. In 2023, Ryan expanded the work to include two more movements creating a three-movement work aiming to bring hope to the Tulsa Race Massacre's memory and celebrating Greenwood.  The entire work, now titled There Arises Light in the Darkness, premiered on September 29, 2023 at a concert by candlelight held at Guthrie Green, featuring violinist Christopher Whitley and Cellist Alex Cox. Barron subsequently recorded the work with Christopher Whitley on violin and Sterling Elliott on cello.
